I AM YOU partnered with Team Up 2 Teach and fund-raised to send 15 volunteer teachers of refugees to the Image Conference - an event for English language teaching professionals organised by the Visual Arts Circle. The organisers at New York College were so impressed with our efforts that they offered to match each ticket we bought with a free ticket for another volunteer teacher so we were able to send 23 teachers overall.
We learned lots of great techniques to use images, art and film in the classroom as well as ways to improve integration and make our learning spaces safe and welcoming. All of this was possible thanks to all the people who donated, huge thanks to all of them!
