I AM YOU
I AM YOU is a nonprofit working with people who have fled war and persecution.
MISSION & HISTORY.
We envision a world awakened to our common humanity and strive to be the force leading the way - a global grassroots movement igniting compassion between people through field work, volunteering and dialogue.
We serve men, women and children who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and conflict. Since 2015, I AM YOU has provided humanitarian aid focusing on education, medical transportation and site management. Our humanitarian programs have been carried out by hundreds of volunteers from all over the world.
From 2015-2020, I AM YOU had a local presence in Greece, with additional short-term operations in Lebanon, Turkey, and Sweden.
In March 2022, I AM YOU initiated its Task Force to make an assessment of the unfolding situation in Ukraine and bordering countries, with plans to provide humanitarian assistance and support to local organizations in Poland.
I AM YOU's work has been recognized worldwide, from institutions such as Stanford University and the Center for Human Rights and International Justice, to close-knit collaborations with organizations such as Human Rights Watch and the UNHCR, as well as high-profile supporters from the international arts community.
FOUNDED
IN 2015.
I AM YOU was founded by Swedish childhood friends Rebecca Reshdouni and Damian Ardestani after an awareness trip that quickly turned into a dramatic 5-day rescue operation in Lesvos, Greece during October, 2015.
